Calling name: Tamara
Date of Birth: 01/10/2006
SIRE: Ritzilyn Heir Apparent of Ruffitwood (IMP UK)
DAM: Ashley of Ruffitwood
I bought Tamara from Zena Butler (Ruffitwood Golden Retrievers) in 2006.
I was starting to look for
females from good bloodlines. I got exactly what I was looking for in
Tamara. Her father is an imported dog and has won numerous shows as has
her mother. I have only showed Tamara once, where the judge commented
that if I train her, I would have a good show dog. Unfortunately I have
not showed Tamara since, but I am positive that she would have made an
excellent show dog, but Tamara is first and foremost my pet and
companion. I have done basic obedience training with Tamara, and she
enjoyed it like all Goldens do. The one specific thing that stands out
with Tamara is her beautiful silky soft coat, which nearly all her
puppies inherit. She has produced lovely puppies and they have made
their new owners very happy.
Unfortunately, due to complications Tamara was spayed in June
2010. Tamara is now my shadow and follows me around wherever I go.
MY SHADOW!

Calling name: Casey
Date of Birth: 07/03/2007
SIRE: Macanne Newsflash
DAM: Macanne Uptown Girl
I bought Casey from Margaret McAra
(Macanne Golden Retrievers) for the same reason I bought Tamara,
to better the bloodline of my females. Casey’s parents have also won
numerous shows, and Casey got her extremely gorgeous looks from her
mother, Margaret’s Kelly. When I bought Casey I intended to show her,
but I did not know what extremely special miracle dog Casey would turn
out to be. I showed Casey at a couple of shows, she did everything
right in the show ring and I did everything wrong.
In December 2009,
Casey ingested a piece of “tick and flea collar”, which I put on my
dogs in our ever ongoing war against billary and tick bite fever since
I live on a plot. Casey was poisoned by the tick collar and collapsed
at the end of December. After she spent two days at the vet, and
seemingly made a full recovery, she was brought home and appeared to be
her old self again. Casey had a relapse and was rushed back to the vet
early in January 2010. She was in a coma for four days and the vets
seemed very pessimistic about her chances to make a recovery. Casey
fought for her life and after 11 days at the vet, the vets and staff
came to call her “miracle dog”. Casey received a clean bill of
health, inspiring me with her will to live. She truly is
our “miracle dog”.
Casey has had her last litter in March '14, and has now retired.
ENJOY, MIRACLE DOG!

Gemma was bred by and belongs to my
daughter, Lorinda, who lives in Pretoria. Although Gemma doesn’t live
with me she still comes to visit her “grandma” often. Gemma comes from
the same litter where Chrystal was bred with Margaret McAra’s Murray.
Gemma has been shown by Lorinda at
the GRC Championship Show in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 and has achieved
the following:
Best Bitch 2009
Best SA Bred Bitch 2010 and 2011
Lorinda also won "Best Novice Handler" while showing Gemma
Rather than showing Gemma, my daughter
enjoys taking Gemma to “doggy school” (Obedience training) which has
formed an inseparable bond between them. Gemma also has a repertoire of
tricks that she enjoys performing for an audience who is willing to
give treats. Gemma also obtained her Canine Good Citizen Award (Bronze
Level) in 2009. In 2014 Gemma and Lorinda completed her Canine Good Citizen Silver
and GOLD level simultaneously.
Gemma has loads of self confidence and yet has a very kind personality.
Gemma had her last litter in 2015 and was spayed in June 2015.
ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT, GEMMA!

Calling name: Haley
Date of Birth: 12/12/2009
SIRE : Ruffitwood Sir Flannagen
DAM: Ardala Gem of the Sun
Haley
is the third generation of my own line of successful breeding. Her
grand mother is Crystal, and her mother is Gemma, both from exceptional
lines. Haley has been showed in 2010 and 2011 at the Golden Retriever
Championship show. Where she was placed second in puppy (2010) and won
Best Novice Bitch in 2011.
Haley completed puppy one, puppy two and basic obedience classes.
Haley has filled a very special place
in my heart, as she has a lot of the characteristics of Shakespeare, my
first Golden. She loves to snuggle up at night and sleep with her
muzzle in your neck. Haley has now joined the ranks of my breeding
females.
Haley had her last litter and was spayed in September 2017.

Ruffitwood Sir Flannagen
DAM: Ardala Gem of the Sun
(Minki lives with my daughter, Lorinda, in Pretoria)
After suffering a personal loss, my daughter decided to get herself a
Golden pup to invest some extra energy, love, time and attention into
to help with her healing process. Gemma (my daughters first Golden
female) had pups at this stage sired by Ruffitwood Sir Flannagen. We
had a litter from Gemma and Flannagen before, where my female, Haley
came from, and from the start we where in love with Haley's temperament
and look and overall Golden Retriever characteristics. Like fate would
have it one of the females that was booked from this litter got
cancelled and my daughter fell in love with the smallest (at that
stage) of the litter. A more golden, very playful female. She decided
to take this female home with her mommy (Gemma) to keep for herself.
My daughter's surname is "van der Westhuizen" and since this pup was
absolutely gorgeous we named her Minki, after the South African
model/TV personality Minki van der Westhuizen.
Lorinda has trained Minki for the
show-ring and she shows very well. In
May 2015 Lorinda and Minki achieved Minki's Canine Good Citizen
Bronze and Silver levels simultaneously. Lorinda is very impressed with
Minki's obedience training and will be attempting Minki's GOLD level CGC
in the near future. This is the biggest honour in Dog Obedience.
My daughter has since had two little girls and Minki is so soft with
the girls. The girls love her to bits and Minki loves them. When you
say that Golden Retrievers are fantastic with children, Minki is the
role model for this statement.
Minki had her first litter (end 2013). She passes on her beautiful soft
straight coat to her pups. Although Minki has had her first
litter she remains an energetic and playful pup at heart.

Logan

SIRE: Gloi Nightstar of Lurasia (IMP UK)
DAM: Satchella Daniella
I always
wanted to keep an offspring from Orion to use in my breeding line
as a stud dog. I did not want to use one of my own females as dam,
since I wanted to bring a new line into my own breeding.
One of the most important requirements when picking a dam to choose
offspring from, was excellent health checks. I found all that along with
good temperament, and good looks in the cross between Orion and Dani.
So when I was
contacted by Claire and Lana (from Schannon kennels) whether they could
use Orion as stud dog, I immediately decided that should the outcome be
positive, I would in lieu of a stud dog fee keep "pick-of-the-litter"
male puppy for myself.
Due
to an elbow injury, I had Logan neutered and he will not be joining my
breeding program. I unfortunately also had to keep him from the
show-ring. I have also done a little
obedience training with Logan, and like any Golden Retriever he is
eager to please and a fast learner.
Logan has
decided that my son, Lourens, is his all-time-favourite human. Lourens
takes Logan on regular excursions to Walkhaven and on hiking trails. He
is currently living with Lourens.

DAM: Staaldam Simply The Best
After the unexpected passing of Orion
(Gloi Nightstar of Lurasia IMP U.K.), I was absolutely devastated. I
was extremely emotional and wanted to keep his
progeny going. He was such a exceptional dog, from a new bloodline and
excellent health scores. Listelle Scheepers from Staaldam Kennels had
used Orion
as stud dog and there was one male puppy available. I decided to take
him in
lieu of the stud dog fee. Yoda was already 4 months old when he came to
live with me. He has all his father's characteristics. A lovely big
golden head and a soft silky coat from his mother.
I have shown Yoda a little bit and he has won:
- Best baby puppy in the GRC open show (2014).
Yoda's health checks have been done and are excellent. He is available for stud
to approved females.

SIRE: Kilifi Roquefort
DAM: Ardala Gem of the Sun
I was looking for a new female to add to my household and (hopefully in
future) breeding lines, since I had one of my breeding females spayed.
I wanted to go back to the base-line and roots of our original breeding
line.
I love keeping females from my own lines, since I know the temperament
and look I am dealing with and also know that they are genetic sound
for at least three generations. Since my daughter likes doing
"out-crosses" with different lines, I decided to get myself a puppy from
Gemma and Rocky (Kilifi - Di Phillipson). Both Gemma and Rocky has an
excellent bloodline and fantastic health checks for generations.Rocky
was also built up to a show champion.
As I am an avid
Game Of Thrones follower, Khaleesi was born. I chose "pick of the litter" for myself. She is really
living up to her name and is such a spunky puppy. We are expecting big
things from her in the future.
Khaleesi's health checks have been done and she will now be joining the ranks of my breeding females.
WELCOME KHALEESI !

- Best Baby Puppy in Group
At the Golden Retriever Open Show he won:

Due to circumstances beyond their control she was returned to me.
As her health checks have been done and are excellent, Kate will be joining my breeding program.
She is jointly owned by myself and Annerie Schoeman from Anshei Kennels. Kate is living with Annerie and is living in the lap of luxury. She joins regular trips to Walkhaven Dog Park and she has even joined us on the Golden Holiday to Agape Beach House.

A Lifelong bond was formed between Listel and me. We have always assisted each other with our breeding program. I bred Joy for Listel but she has decided for personal reasons to take a breather from breeding.
Joy has now returned to her home ground. Her health checks have been done and they are excellent. Joy will now join my breeding program.
